THE WORLD IS OUR ART PROJECT
OUR STORY MISSION AND TEAM
WE ARE UNBOREDROOM
AN INCLUSION FOCUSED ART PROGRAM
Unboredroom, formerly Mixed Media, is a passion project of Recreation Therapist and Artist Rachel Cohen who has been working in inclusion programming since 2015. In 2019, we began using grant funding through the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division of Economic Development to create free programing, collaborative works, performances and exhibitions for Austin's artists with and without disabilities. We employ local artists and provide them with education in adaptation and accommodations to increase their reach as artists and educators and to promote more inclusive art making spaces.

In 2023, Unboredroom found a home at Good Dad Studios, the largest artists' colony in Texas, where we serve participants and continue our inclusion focused events and art making. In 2024 we established ourselves as a nonprofit to continue our programming and amplify our impact.

We strive to connect people with and without disabilities, using art as the bridge. Founded in evidence-based practice, we know how recreation and art based activities produce positive health outcomes, increase empathy, and promote self-expression.
